Critters
The snow is flying today. At the moment, the ground is too wet for it to lay but it's coming down pretty fast right now.
The birds have abandoned my feeding stations except for some woodpeckers who keep coming to the critter log. They have some of the holes emptied out. I'm keeping an eye on it to make sure I put more there for them when they've eaten it all. The brown squirrel has been back yesterday and again this morning.
I don't know where they go, but I hope they'll be safe and warm this winter.

at 11/25/2004 11:12:51 AM- I wore long sleeves and a wind breaker for my morning ride. In just over an hour it went from rain to sunny and back to rain again. All in the 50s though so I wasn't cold. Raindrops do hurt sometimes when you're going downhill at 30 plus mph. So I duck them.

at 11/25/2004 11:31:36 AM- It's so strange for me to read of YOU having snow while we have a warm chinook here, bringing temperatures up to springlike conditions.
I would love to have a resident woodpecker or two. They're lucky critters that you're so attentive to their needs. Spoiled, actually. ; )
Happy Thanksgiving, NJ!

at 11/25/2004 11:44:11 AM- A Chinook, eh! I may not have heard that word since Peter retired from Morningside. I was thinking the Chinook comes in January. Enjoy it. It may not last long.
And, my Southern boys, you may have warm weather, but I'm so used to having probable snow for Thanksgiving that it would be very strange to me not to have cold weather, at least. Although, I remember a couple of Thanksgivings when we put on sweaters and went out for a good walk after the feast. That was OK, come to think of it.

Your weather is strange. I ran in shorts and a teeshirt this morning and was quite sweaty when done. No sign of snow at all here.
Have a very nice Thanksgiving day.
Best regards,
J.W. Stoker
