My Special Treat

I've been sort of sitting on a recipe called "Cream Scones" for over a month, thinking how good it sounds.  I bought the ingredients a couple of weeks ago.  This afternoon I made them for my Linda dinner this evening.  How good it is!

We had them for dessert with tea and they were great.  I used craisins instead of raisins and I even liked the dough before it was baked.

Sometimes I pick out recipes and they sound wonderful but when I make them, they aren't nearly as good as they sound.  This one is really a very good one.

Scones are usually eaten with clotted cream, --a really thick, rich cream, or perhaps a jelly or jam.  We ate this without any topping and thought it was fabulous!  Also, I think scones are sort of a snack thing, not usually a dessert item, but I often don't follow the rules.

I baked them on my Pampered Chef baking stone and they came out just right!

I love my Pampered Chef baking stone, but mostly I make homemade pizza on it.

Yes, Lorraine, it's very good for baking pizza. I've done that too. It took me a little while to get used to it and I'm wondering if it needed to be seasoned. It's been working very well for me now that I've used it for a while.

I use mine for several things. Cookies bake wonderfully on it and last night I did biscuits. It is much superior to my old baking sheets.

We sound like a commercial! I hope some PC consultant reads this! I like my PC things, --my microwave steamer cooker, for instance. One of my very favorites is the shortening measure. And then there's the can opener. The stone is great but it's really heavy!

Pampered Chef Baking Stone?? What wondrous thing am I missing out on? Is Pampered Chef the name of a line of products? What size and shape is this stone?

Yes, it is a line of products. The stone can be round or square. Mine is round. It's a ceramic stone. Karen's is a rectangle. PC makes other baking pans in this ceramic stone. People really like the way they bake things. I find the pans to be very heavy for me to handle, but I really do enjoy the use of my round stone.
