Action

Rennie has been here this morning, loaded his pick up truck with things he can salvage and will be back again this evening for more.  I put a picture of his loaded truck on my Flickr stream.  Already the garage looks so much roomier.  I can walk around in it freely now.

Rennie told me that his mom was a seamstress for a couple of department stores in Erie and had worked for 30 years. She accumulated sewing materials, like my husband accumulated things he would never use.  When she died, his dad said that they should get what they wanted from her things and he was throwing the rest out.  At that time, they had to pay to dump stuff in a land fill and they took load after load and dumped it.  There were whole bolts of materials along with all the other sewing scraps.  Because they had to pay for it by weight, each load was weighed and they kept track of the total weight.  It added up to over 7 tons!  It was an enormous task.

I wonder how many tons I've gotten rid of.  I wonder how many tons I still have to deal with.  I can't guess!

I cleaned out my kitchen cupboards last weekend, and I threw away so much stuff, the room sounded hollow after I was finished. I once more like to open a cupboard door without dreading the mess and confusion in there.

Joan, isn't it the truth! We do love the look and feel of the room or cupboards that are cleaned out.
