Finding Lost Things
Today was a day to find some things that I had misplaced. I can
certainly misplace things so that it takes years to find them!
Some things only take days to find and some things only take hours or
minutes, but, no joke, I found Mom's electric scissors today and I
didn't know where they were for YEARS! She asked me about them a
couple of years before she died. She asked me if I use them and I
hardly remembered that she'd given them to me when she stopped using
them. She never really liked using them because, she said, they
vibrated too much. I had to admit to her that I didn't remember
what I'd done with them but I wasn't using them. She was
disappointed. I was sorry to disappoint her.
Today while I was looking for something else, I found them in a little
storage area under the hanging clothes in the bedroom closet.
It's hard to get into that space and I was groping around in the dark
and found something that I couldn't identify by feel there at the very
bottom of the storage space. I pulled it out and discovered that
it was Mom's electric scissors, without any batteries in them.
I'll have to find out if they will still work. If they still
work, maybe someone will want them.
I also found some of my art correspondence course books, in that same
storage area. I had completely forgotten that I'd put them
there. And I found several things which I can throw away.
It feels good to recognize things that I'm able to dispose of.
That included some of my college class work and a ratty old
pillow.
Finding lost things is good therapy.
