Today's Agenda
My priority for today is taking care of my thumb. It's no worse this morning and I think it's a bit better. The redness and swelling are down a little. So I'll keep doing the soaks and the antibiotic and I'll make arrangements to get to my doctor as needed.
Today is the opening of deer season in PA. It's not my favorite time, but we get through it every year. I don't like to be anywhere near woods at this time of the year.
The weather is mild again today. We have lots of snow piled up but already the green grass is showing through in places. The little birds are back at the feeder. There's been a big spill of seeds under the feeder. I suppose a squirrel did that. The birds seem to prefer to eat from the feeder but some take the seeds from the ground.
Things are looking better this morning.

at 11/28/2005 10:34:29 AM- Leslie, it's going to take a while to clean up that mess that the squirrel made. I think it must have been a squirrel wanting something special and just dumping all the common seeds. I'll wait till they clean it up more before I refill the beautiful, blue, weather proof, but not squirrel proof, bird feeder. (I feel like Hyacinth Bucket ((bouquet)) on Keeping Up Appearances)

at 11/29/2005 5:53:25 PM- Kim, it really shouldn't be a brown recluse. They shouldn't be in PA, and especially at this time of the year. But it does seem like a spider bite is the best guess. It's not all better, just lots better from Sunday morning. Each day should show improvement now.

at 11/29/2005 9:58:25 PM- That's good. I don't know where all the brown recluse can be; I just know it's around here. And I've seen the effects of its bite. One of our church members got one. Not fun at all. She was glad she remembered to put kerosene on it right away (a grandpa's remedy) because it didn't get nearly as bad as it could have been.

at 11/30/2005 6:28:13 AM- Kim, the name recluse must be because they do hide so much and we don't see them. A woman in Erie got bit by one this summer, apparently came in a package of tulip bulbs that came from the south somewhere. I think this isn't a recluse bite because it never felt like it was on fire as I've heard. It throbbed though. And the wound is slow in healing. My thumb is still somewhat swollen. No fun! For sure!

Glad to hear your thumb's a bit better.
I always enjoy watching the birds make a big mess of the seed then clean it all up. :)
