Beauty on the Fence

I know that bindweed is a noxious weed because it's so invasive.  It seems to be everywhere and if you don't mow some place, bindweed grows there.

I have a chainlink fence around the dog pen in back of the house and the bindweed has been growing there.  It vines like morningglory and its flowers are like morningglory, too.  So, here's this noxious weed vining over the dog pen and now it's blooming and IT'S BEAUTIFUL!  It's not going to choke the life out of the fence, teehee, so it's doing no harm there.  I really like seeing it there.

Wow - I haven't seen morning glory vines in many years. My mom always had them. I need to see if I can find some, or, may I could find that "noxious"weed you've got! Hope you enjoyed the weekend. I'm beginning to feel a bit better and hope to return to work on Tuesday. Take care.

Bindweed grows profusely here and wraps tightly around other plants and harms them. Morning glories have to be planted from seed each year. Bindweed grows from the root each year and even when you pull it or try to dig it up, some of the root stays in the ground and it thrives. But it is beautiful when it blooms. Glad you're feeling better, Sally.

I think that is what I have under my feeder, I saw it holding a tall sun flower upright to a shepherds hook! just like it was sposed to be there.

That would be a good use for bindweed, to hold up a tall plant! Fred was saying in his "Fragments" blog that his climbing beans climbed a sunflower and he got a quart of beans off that plant. Neat!
