A Cup of Hot Tea
It's been days since I had a cup of hot tea but this morning is a good morning to get back to the habit. I've been drinking a lot of iced tea because of the excessive heat. This morning the temperature is below 60 degrees and it feel great. A hot cup of tea is just right for getting the day started this morning.

at 7/30/2005 10:11:24 AM- Sometimes I'm aware of which cup I'm using. I have a Peter Gzowski mug that I really enjoyed using until a guest took it out of the house on an across town excursion. I was afraid it would get broken! So I put it away. I have a few others that have special meaning, "I love you more than chocolate," "Someone in Pittsburgh loves you," a Sandra Boynton mug, a cheery welcome mug, a black mug with a yellow moose from when my son and his wife lived in Maine, and more. The mug I used today was a Hospice Volunteer mug with a pretty quilt patch pattern. It is big, --holds a lot and keeps it warm longer than those little delicate ones, and it has a nice big handle. It's very practical and that's what I needed this morning.

at 7/31/2005 7:24:13 PM- It's so hot here all the time, but I don't let that stop me from having a nice cup of tea. We have afternoon thunderstorms here almost every day this time of year. One of my favorite things in the world is sitting down with a cup of tea and reading a good book.

Part of the pleasure of a hot cup of tea for me is the cup I choose to drink it from. I like bigger ones in the morning, daintier ones at night. If I had a place to put them, I'd collect old teacups and saucers. They're the first things I gravitate toward in antique shops, always wondering about their history: who owed them, how many hands were wrapped around them over the years.
I also love a teacup with a goodsized handle that my hand fits perfectly into.
Cheers!
