Favorite Character

On one of the message boards I read online, the question was raised, "Who is your favorite character in the Harry Potter books?"  It's been interesting to see the responses.  It's really interesting to see how many people have been reading the books and know something about the characters.

I've read some of the books and my favorite character is probably Hermione, although I really like Dumbledore, too.  But I'm wondering, are we supposed to feel that Harry Potter is our favorite?

I guess I haven't read enough of them to have chosen a favorite. The tremendous response she receives from her books is great. Isn't it nice to see so many kids (and big kids, too) falling in love with reading?

Other than Harry, my favorite character was Siruis Black. I was a little disappointed in the actor chosen to portray Siruis in the film. That's not who I imagined at all! :)

Aside from the main character I think my favorite is Tom Bombadil. I always wished we could learn more about him. Why did the ring have absolutely no power over him, and no interest to him? I am very pleased he didn't even make the cut for the movies. That way I still see him in my imagination rather than losing my picture of him in the ovewhelming over-write that a video presentation enforces.

John, that's LOTR, not Harry Potter. So your favorite in LOTR is Frodo? What about HP? Were you trying to trick me?

LOTR! Oops! Well, how about Hagrid then? There really aren't that many full fledged characters in HP are there. They all seem to be carictures filling the role they've been given and not much else.

Hagrid is a neat character, too. Strong but gentle. Have you been reading the books? I am far behind but I'm not sure about the characters not being well developed.
