Happy Memorial Day
I know we think of memorial Day as a holiday and greet each other in keeping with a holiday, but it's actually more than a holiday. It's a somber remembrance of those who have served our country in protecting and defending us. Many of them died in this service. In our home town, we have a special service for veterans, commemorating their gift to us. It's held at Mead Park and our high school band plays patriotic songs for the service. If I was home, I'd be going to the service. I hope it will be a fine day tomorrow, for the outdoor service to honor our veterans.

at 5/30/2005 6:39:49 AM- The state representative for our area, Curt Sonney, will be the speaker at our Memorial Day service. A gold-star mother will be honored. That always really gets to me. Someone from each branch of the military will be there, including Kathy Sheible, representing The Order of the Cootie, which always makes me laugh, silently of course. It's a good service.

I think that the making a 3-day weekend out of our holidays was a bad thing, people use it to go away and they dont celebrate the reason for the holiday anymore. We had a small parade in our town on Saturday in Memory of the War Veterans. It was hokey, but nice. I love small towns. Tomorrow the cemeterys will have flags on all of the graves of the veterans of all wars. It is something to see.
