A Request
I painted a rock with daisies for my friend Iola who operates the greenhouse where I get my annuals. When her great grandson saw it, he was very impressed. He really likes stones, Iola says. He asked his grandma to please ask her friend to paint a stone for him.
I wondered what kind of flower he would want on his painted stone. Wait till you hear what he wants!! He has asked for a painting of a spider web with a spider! That's not at all what I'd expected to hear.
Yes, I'm going to try to honor his request. I'm starting to think spider web! I hope I can do it for him. I wonder how young he really is!

at 5/27/2005 11:13:03 PM- When in Cedar Rapids recently, I went looking for a Geocache after work one evening. It turned out that the cache had gone missing and we never did find it, however as we walked down the bike trail looking for it we noticed a series of painted rocks hidden along the way. There was a Cheshier Cat, yellow and red striped, in the crotch of a tree, a fox hiding in the rocks along the streambed, and an owl living in the hollow of a tree. They were cleverly painted and 'hidden' to be seen by anyone who was paying attention. It made a hunt for a lost cache more fun.

What a fun project. I'm sure you'll create something nice.
I came home from work one day a few years ago and someone had left a beautiful painted stone on my front door step. It had a picture of a robin's nest with little blue eggs in it. I found out some time later that it was Mom who had left it there. : )
