Happy Ending

My morning rescue mission has a happy ending.  I just got a call from the police dispatcher who told me that the dog is safely home again.  It really was her neighbor's dog!  The owner says that the dog will now be kept more securely so he won't be running loose and in danger.  That's good news.

And, I can go pick up my very old leash.  I hope I won't have to use it for a long time, but I should have it handy for the next time I need to help out.

It figures it was a Husky!! My sister had one that escaped often. He was a lover, but a real houdini. He ate right through the wooden fence. I was listening to the scanner and heard "Paul-4 stopped at prairie Center, with a wolf-husky mix VERY FRIENDLY dog." I called my sister who said her dog was right ther....OHMIGAWD he's gone again. So she beat the cop to the shelter, Gotta love small towns huh?

Gotta love small towns, --absolutely. So, a Husky is an escape artist! The dispatcher told me that her neighbor's dogs are very smart and learned very early how to work the latch on the gate where they are fenced in.

"So, a Husky is an escape artist!" Quite frankly, I do believe they are the best at it. There's a thousand year history of breeding huskies to run and think on their own. Abraham learned very quickly to open up his crate. "Piece of cake," he said. :)

Lorraine, it tickled me to think of Abraham with his "piece of cake," because I know he'd make sort work of getting rid of a piece of cake. I really liked this dog. Even though I knew, I really knew, we would get him back to his owners, I just hated taking him to the police in case they would take him to the pound first. I know they are treated well there, but it's so stark and frightening for a dog. I remember how Rusty begged us to get him out of there when we went there to see him.

Our dog can't get out unless we let her. If huskies are such escape artists, maybe it was one of those dogs that started the fire our dog is accused of igniting. (See the link in my name above.)

    Best regards,

That's a funny story, James. I'm glad it wasn't Blaise. And, is she afraid of fire, too, like Rusty is? Desy isn't, although she wouldn't go close to fire. She has a healthy respect for it.
