Looking at My Feet
There's a Sesame Street song that says, "While looking at my feet at a crack in the sidewalk, an old tin can at the side of the road, I nearly missed a rainbow, I nearly missed a sunset, I nearly missed a shooting star going by."
That's evidently what happened to me last night. I wasn't really looking at my feet, but I was looking at the snow on the ground glittering like diamonds and I missed the MOON! This morning everyone was talking about how beautiful the moon was last night and I never saw it at all, just the diamonds in the snow. It was a gorgeous, full moon last night, I heard. The night was full of light! Evidently that's why the icy snow was glittering so much. I saw part of the beautiful sight, but I'm sorry I missed seeing the moon.
Tonight I shall make it a point to look for the moon!

at 2/27/2005 6:37:13 AM- A year or so ago, when the last full lunar eclipse for a while happened, I took my boys on a camping trip in a friends pop-up to see it. Sure enough two things happened. The boys were so excited that they wore themselves out and were sound asleep when the moon came up. And there were so many clouds that we only got brief peeks at the moon. We did wake them for the totality, but I don't think either of them remember much of that part. I am sure they remember our night in the pop-up and the rain that started after we packed it in and lasted through the morning. The moon wasn't great that night, but the friendship and family memories were. So much for looking up!
I also remember the bike ride with a friend when we found $860 strewn over about a mile of road. It was a popular route and after we'd found about half of the money a couple of bikers rode by and asked if we were ok. We told them we'd just found ~$400! As they rode off, past the remaining $400 we found, I remember one of them remarking to the other, "How come nothing like that ever happens to us." So much for lookng down!
I love looking up and down!

The rest of the song I quoted says, "Looking down at your feet means you know where you're going. No head up in the clouds to lead you astray." (I like the No head part!) Looking down at my feet keeps me from falling and that's good. But the song ends, "You can't ever have any kind of dreams that way." And that's something to think about, too. John, your idea is good, look both up and down.

Hey, NJ, you missed a gorgeous moon last night!! LOLOL
I hardly ever miss it unless the clouds or fog cover it. I love looking at the night sky, and the moon comes up over the horizon right out my office window <<<<---right over there.
