Four Things

"Four things a man must learn to do
If he would make his record true;
To think without confusion clearly;
To love his fellow-men sincerely;
To act from honest motives purely;
To trust in God and heaven securely."

    I like this poem. But I'm not familiar with the poet. It almost sounds like a Puritan poem.

    Henry van Dyke lived 1852- 1933. He was a preacher and he also wrote Joyful, joyful we adore thee, God of glory, Lord of love, Hearts unfold like flowers before thee, opening to the sun above, etc. I would like to read a biography of him some day.
